As promised, here’s the audio recording of my DJ set from Saturday at BURN2 “The Multiverse”. There weren’t as many people this time, compared to my previous appearance at BURN2 VRC at the end of August, but the upside was that I could actually type in chat without horrible lag! 😛Continue reading “Spiffy’s DJ Set @ BURN2 “The Multiverse””
Just a reminder that I’ll be DJ-ing today at BURN2 “The Multiverse” in Second Life, from 12pm to 2pm SLT (8pm to 10pm UK time).
Here is the link to the landing point if you’re in-world. Be advised that it could get very busy, so remove any scripted attachments, HUDs or other items that you don’t need before arrival.
If you can’t make it, you can tune in to my DJ stream here. I will also be streaming to Gorean Whip Radio, but as I’ll be squeezing in between two other shows there you might miss the start of my set. Never fear if you can’t listen live, I’ll be recording my show and posting it here tomorrow, along with tracklisting. 🙂
Apologies for the radio silence of late — I’ve not been as active in Second Life, but that is going to change over the next few weeks.Continue reading “I’m going to be at BURN2 “The Multiverse” Tomorrow!”
As promised, here is the recording of my show from BURN2 which took place yesterday at 12pm SL Time.
I was the first act on after the opening, which was pretty cool. Sadly, I only had one hour to perform this time around, as the Fashionistas were doing their show at 1pm, but I continued broadcasting on Gorean Whip Radio after my set time was up.Continue reading “Spiffy @ BURN2 VRC Week opening – 30/08/2020”
Sooo… last week I got confirmation from the organizers at Burn2 in Second Life that I’ve got a slot there this coming Sunday at 12pm SLT for the VRC Week event!
As with my previous performance at Burn2 last month, I’m planning on simulcasting across Second Life on Gorean Whip Radio, with the approval of station management. I’d normally be broadcasting at that time anyway, so no danger of conflict with other shows.
I’ve not yet finalised what I’ll play, but since it falls on August Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, when the Notting Hill Carnival would usually be taking place — but not this year, thanks to Covid-19 — I’ll try and fit in some reggae, ska and calypso. 🙂
If you’re around in Second Life on Sunday, you’re welcome to drop by the Burn2 performance stage (note that they’re in the process of building currently, but feel free to have a look around.) Otherwise, you can tune in via Gorean Whip Radio (here’s the stream address), or wait until next week when I’ll upload and post the recording of my set.
In other news, I’ve been doing some more tweaking of my avatar. My search for a new deep blue skin has finally ended — the appropriately named Peacock skin from CORE, which makes my rainbow spot tattoo and makeup really pop! I also found some new mesh eyes that I’m truly happy with, the Hypno from Venge. Unlike a lot of the others I’ve tried, these can be modified, so I could add some glow to them. Perfect for staring down haters and undesirables, or perhaps enthralling the unwary… muwahahahaha! 😀
You might notice that a few things are missing, namely my ears and antennae. The sad fact is that neither of those items support Bakes On Mesh, meaning it’s much more hassle to texture them, and I cannot apply any shine to them. So, I’ve ditched them for now. On the plus side that reduces my avatar complexity quite a bit, as does the removal of the need for an extra tattoo layer to hide the baked in fingernails and toenails from my previous skin.
That’s all the news for now. I have a review coming up for an alternative mesh body, which I’ll get done and posted later this week. And I’ll try and take some photos from Burn2 on Sunday to share with you all.
Peace and love, stay safe, and look after yourselves and each other! *mwahs*
This past Saturday, following my DJ show at Coghaven the previous day, I did a performance at BURN2 in Second Life as part of their Burnstock weekend, which was raising money towards supporting the region and funding their Big Burn in October.
Like many real-world events, the annual Burning Man had to be cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. But its online arm, BURN2, has been picking up the slack with many virtual events throughout the year.
I’ve been to quite a few BURN2 events in Second Life over the past couple of years, but this was my first time performing there.
The screenshot below shows me at the front of the stage with the crowd dancing on the Playa. Behind me there were lots of stage lights and a big screen, you can make out some of the light beams above me.
The highlight of my show, however, was that I got to introduce these guys to the stage!
If you’ve never heard Goddess Oksana or her band Six Seconds To Russia performing in Second Life, you’re missing out — they’re a full rock back jamming out from a studio in New York, doing covers of rock and pop songs in their own unique style. 🙂 In the photo above, Oksana is flanked by Lars and Tomas. Behind her, Gunter is on the drums, Tatty and Mariko are on keyboards, and Svetlana is on the saxaphone. I go to their shows whenever I can. 🙂
Below is the recording of my set. I went with a mix of techno, house and assorted electronica. It’s a little bit shorter than normal, as I needed to make sure I finished on time, and you’ll hear me hop off stage early so that SSTR could set up their equipment on the stage.
